I got hooked on this product about four years ago after getting a set of chemical peels done. I needed makeup that didn’t clog my beautiful new skin, and that had SPF. My cosmetician suggested that I try Jane Iredale’s PurePressed Powder Base, a mineral foundation that didn’t contain Talc or Bismuth Oxychloride (ingredients commonly associated with skin problems) and had SPF 20. This powder has been in my beauty arsenal ever since in the color Warm Silk, and is probably my most used product.
NEW IN 2017!
I’ve learned that every foundation I’ve put on looks translucent without following with this mineral foundation. To clarify, foundation seems to sit on the skin where the skin and foundation seem separate. However the skin and the foundation seem to become one when this powder is applied. It adds coverage and a more natural, glowy finish. What’s more is that the coverage is buildable. To illustrate to you the power of this powder, I’ll tell you about the time I had a dark bruise under my eye. I looked like I got punched in the face! I put every concealer I had on it, and you could still see it! You know what hid it? I (really) patted on some of the PurePressed Powder Base over the concealer, it was like magic! I got by without having to explain to people how I got the bruise, so don’t ask. 🙂
My makeup routine (after moisturizer and sunscreen) goes as follows:
1. concealer where needed
2. liquid foundation (buffed in)
3. Jane Iredale PurePressed powder
USE: I usually dust on a light layer of the powder with a fluffy brush, but if I feel I need more coverage then I pat it on with a powder puff.
To conclude, this mineral foundation is great. It has SPF 20, excellent coverage, and natural slightly glowy finish. It also photographs well and doesn’t clog pores. The refill lasts a long time (8-10 months of daily use). Although I’m pretty sure that my first one lasted over a year.
I love when products don’t ruin my skin!
